About Bovel

Bovel McPherson arrives at Texas Tech following a standout season at New Mexico Junior College, where he asserted himself as a dominant force in the sprints. His performances earned national recognition, including the NJCAA indoor and outdoor 200m and 400m titles in 2025, showcasing elite speed and versatility.


Indoors, he set a personal best of 20.44 seconds in the 200m and clocked 45.30 in the 400m. Outdoors, he lowered his 400m time to an impressive 44.78 seconds and registered a top six finish in the 200m at the Michael Johnson Invitational with a time of 20.92.


Known for his explosive starts, smooth speed endurance, and ability to deliver under pressure, Bovel has been a key relay contributor as well, anchoring 4x100 and 4x400 squads to top finishes at major meets.


Coach Wes Kittley and the Red Raider track staff are excited to add depth and championship level talent to their sprint lineup. Bovel’s work ethic and proven acceleration promise immediate impact in Big 12 competition.

Off the track, Bovel embodies the student-athlete ethos, joining the university as a sophomore while pursuing his academic goals and embracing life in Lubbock.
