About Brady
Brady McHenry joins Texas Tech as part of the incoming freshman class for the 2025–26 season, following a stellar high school career at Buena High School in Ventura, California. He’s widely regarded as one of Southern California’s top prep golfers and committed to Texas Tech during the 2024–25 signing period alongside international stars from Odessa College and Sweden.
In May 2025, Brady claimed the CIF SCGA SoCal Boys Championship at Los Serranos South Course in Chino Hills, firing a 7 under 67 with eight birdies, including four consecutive on holes 1 to 4, and winning in a playoff to become Buena’s first sectional champion. Fresh off that title, he qualified individually for the CIF State Boys Championship at Poppy Hills.
Over his junior season, Brady earned Golfer of the Year honors at Buena and secured two top 6 finishes on the AJGA circuit, including a tie for 9th at the 2025 Mizuno West Coast Classic and a tie for 3rd at the PGA West Junior Championship. He also achieved multiple podium finishes on the SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup.
Brady’s strengths include clutch shot-making under pressure, aggressive scoring mentality, and consistency across highly competitive events. His father-coached program in Ventura has emphasized foundational soundness and a resilient mindset, qualities he’ll carry to Lubbock.
Coach Greg Sands described Brady as a hungry competitor joining a track record program that has earned 19 consecutive NCAA regional invites under his leadership.
Off the course, Brady is excited to embrace the student-athlete experience at Texas Tech, combining life at The Rawls Course with academic and personal growth. With momentum from SoCal championships and national AJGA success, he arrives ready to contribute early and help elevate the Red Raiders’ program.
