About Johnny
Johnny Lowe joins the Red Raiders after strong performances at both Cisco College and Tyler Junior College. In 2024, as a sophomore at Cisco, he posted a 3–1 record with a 2.32 ERA over 31 innings and struck out 36 batters, including dominant outings like seven shutout innings against Frank Phillips and eight strikeouts over seven innings versus Western Texas College. He also earned WJCAC Player of the Week recognition early in the season.
Earlier at Tyler Junior College, he went 3–3 with a 4.54 ERA across 39.2 innings and 31 strikeouts, showing steady growth as a two-way player at Rockwall Heath High School.
At Texas Tech in 2025, Johnny has continued to develop within the program. He’s appeared in nine games with two starts, logging 16 innings with 14 strikeouts.
Known for a high 90s fastball and polished secondary pitches including a sharp slider and firm changeup, Johnny brings poise, strikeout potential, and depth to both the starter and bullpen roles. His command, game readiness, and junior status give Texas Tech a versatile arm for Big 12 competition.
Off the mound, Jonny is rooted in family and long-term development. His father, former MLB pitcher Sean Lowe, played seven seasons in the big leagues, and Jonny credits growing up around pro ball for shaping his work ethic and composure. He values balancing athletics with academics as he pursues a degree in University Studies.
