About Mac

Mac Heuer arrived at Texas Tech in 2024 after a standout prep career as a homeschooled athlete and a 16th round pick by the Cleveland Guardians in 2023. He earned a spot on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team following a solid debut campaign, posting a 4–5 record with 46 strikeouts over 47 innings and a 0.98 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

His freshman season featured key outings, including a six inning, eight strikeout performance against Texas and a one-run start at UCF. He began the year with strong innings against Nebraska and picked up his first win versus Gardner Webb.

Before college, Mac built early momentum through Perfect Game circuits and a power development program led by bullpen coach Johnny Magliozzi, improving his fastball from the upper 80s into the low to mid 90s. He later debuted a slider that became a true strikeout pitch at showcases like Fenway Park’s Main Event.

A skilled two-pitch pitcher with command, velocity, and pitchability, Mac ranks among the top right-handed arms in the Big 12. He’s credited his rise to homeschooling flexibility and life on his family’s ranch, where he developed a strong work ethic raising livestock.

Off the mound, Mac is majoring in Animal Science and cherishes time spent with family. He embraces his role in Lubbock’s program and remains open to pro ball or NCAA success, focusing on continual growth both as a student and athlete.
