About Mariam

Mariam “Mimi” Sanogo joins the Lady Raiders bringing championship grit and versatility from her time at Canisius, Odessa College, and Northwest Kansas Technical College. At Canisius in 2024–25, she started 26 of 31 games, averaging 5.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field. She posted five games with 10 or more points, had a career-high 12-point game, collected 15 games with five-plus rebounds, and led her team in total blocks with 21 and total rebounds with 143.

Before Canisius, Mariam helped Odessa College reach a 30–5 record and achieve a number 10 NJCAA national ranking in 2023–24, averaging 5.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, and adding 35 steals and 13 blocks. Her freshman year at Northwest Kansas Tech featured 9.1 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, 35 steals, 22 blocks, and 25 assists over 25 games.

Coach Krista Gerlich praised her as a hard worker, natural leader, and tough interior presence who brings defense, rebounding, floor running, physicality, and intensity—especially when battling alongside her sister—calling her character, work ethic, and team-first mentality intangibles that will only make us better.

Sibling synergy: Mariam’s younger sister, Sarengbe Sanogo, is already making her mark as a forward/center at Texas Tech. Their shared roots and competitive drive make the Sanogos a dynamic duo for team chemistry.

Off the court, Mariam is majoring in business and enjoys walking, family time, cooking, and learning new skills. She has ambitions to continue playing basketball professionally and during summers competes in 3x3 basketball for France.
