About Zaid

Zaid stepped onto the Texas Tech roster with immediate impact. In the 2025 indoor season, he shattered his indoor personal best with a leap of 7.82 meters to win the Jarvis Scott Invite and then placed third at the Big 12 Indoor Championships with a 7.45 meter jump. He continued strong into outdoor competition, registering consistent marks around 7.60 meters and earning a spot in the NCAA West regional.

Born in Morocco, Zaid is the first member of his family to attend college in the United States. He’s the son of Saadia Douchi and Kamal Latif and has a brother, Youssef, and sister, Basma. He balances his athletic ambition with academics as he works toward a degree in Sports Management.

On the runway, Zaid is known for his explosive speed, technical prowess, and competitive fire. Winning early in the season with a 7.82 meter jump showcased the kind of consistency and clutch performance Coach Wes Kittley expects from the Red Raiders’ jumps squad.

Off the track, Zaid brings cultural diversity and strong family values to Lubbock. As the first in his family to pursue higher education in the U.S., he’s focused on growth—both in sport and in the classroom. With his early season success and personal record performances, Zaid is poised to become a long jump leader in the conference and beyond.
