After a vastly successful high school football career in Longview, Texas, JJ Sparkman committed to Texas Tech over five other D1 options. Although he originally chose Raiderland due to being close to home, Sparkman has fallen in love with the atmosphere and community here.

Following an injury during the 2020 season, Sparkman’s career with the TTU Football program took off in 2021. Among many notable season highlights, Sparkman cites his first touchdown against Oklahoma University as his favorite and most memorable. 

When he’s not preparing for his next game, Sparkman enjoys shopping and playing video games, having dinner at Triple J’s, or listening to R&B music. He hopes to partner with local businesses such as Triple J’s, Boot Barn, and Peter’s of Longview, Texas, as a Dark Horse Ambassador.
