While Kurt Wilson is currently home at shortstop, he’s well known for his ability to play the entire field. Whether he’s batting or playing the field, he’s scrappy and smart and keeps his head to make big plays.
As a lifelong Red Raider fan, Kurt always knew he wanted to play at Texas Tech, but his relationship with the coaching staff sealed the deal. For the Red Raiders, Kurt has proven himself to be a team player with a serious work ethic, a fast glove (he has a .972 fielding percentage in 2022), and a serious bat – hitting .323 with 30 extra base hits and leading the team with 60 RBIs. You may have even seen him on the national stage and on Sportscenter Top 10 when he had not one, but two game-winning walk-off plays to beat #2 Texas on back-to-back games to clinch the series. When he’s not practicing or playing, Kurt enjoys watching the Texas Rangers, hunting, and diving into the fondue at Funky Door.
As a Dark Horse Ambassador, Kurt has a desire to use his talents and gifts to benefit the community he has called home since he came to Tech as a freshman. He is willing to work with a wide range of businesses and organizations, so long as there is plenty of Dr. Pepper cream soda on hand.
