About Nathan
Nathan Kapel is a standout distance runner for Texas Tech University, originally hailing from Kapenguria, Kenya. He began his collegiate career at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he competed in the 2024 indoor and outdoor track seasons. During his time there, he achieved personal bests of 1:50.72 in the 800 meters and 3:44.69 in the 1500 meters.
In 2024, Kapel transferred to Texas Tech, where he quickly made an impact on the cross country team. He opened the season with a 13th-place finish at the Lori Fitzgerald Invite (15:03), followed by a 2nd-place finish at the Texas Tech Open (24:10). He continued to show strong performances with a 43rd-place finish at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational (23:28.8) and a 12th-place finish at the Arturo Barrios Invitational (23:01.9).
Kapel's versatility extends to the track, where he has recorded impressive times across multiple events. His personal bests include 4:02.49 in the mile and 13:56.46 in the 5000 meters.
Off the track, Nathan is pursuing a degree in Agricultural Business/Sport Management. He is one of six siblings and enjoys music, cooking, dancing, and watching movies in his free time.
